#Meeting a New Neighbor

1.Hello there. (suddenly see somebody.)

2.neighbor = the person who lives either right next to you or very close to you.

3.You’re new to the neighborhood = you are not been in this area before.

4.move in/out = move to a new location.

5.settle in = to begin to feel comfortable in a new place.

6.come over = come to my house/where I am.

7.the scoop on something/someone = information/inside information.

8.I’m kind of busy. = I’m some like busy.

9.I’ll take a rain check. = I can’t do that right now. But I’ll so it in the future. (someone offers something, but you can’t so it immediately)

10.joiner = a person who likes to participate in runback activities.

11.to keep to yourself = a person who doesn’t like talking about himself for giving information about himself.

12.I’m appointing yourself. = I’m going to do the participate job.

13.social secretary = a person who’s job is to manage someone’s social appointments.

14.a resident = a person who lives in a participate area.

15.to be inundated = to be flatted by or to have a lot / too much of something.

16.to sort something out = to look at a large amount of something and decide how to organize.

17.to fend off = to protect or defend yourself against someone or something especially someone is attacking you.

18.to turn down = to say no to something/to reject something.

19.reputation = how other people perceive/see you/the opinion other people have of you.

20.a recluse = a person who spends most of his or her time alone without talking to other people.

21.a busybody = someone who guesses about other people/someone who wants to know what’s going on in other people’s lives, even though it isn’t any of his or her business.


22.some people (it’s used to show how you are shocked by what someone has said or what someone has done. You can’t believe that.)

# Studio Classroom

1. a part of the action = you are in bored in the most exciting or the most important part of something.
ex. Jane was exciting when his best friend ask him to be the best man at his wedding. He couldn't wait to be a part of the action.
I am so Tracy would love to be a part of the action. We shouldn't bite her to participate.
= you want someone to involve something that you are doing.

2. something was like any other something = normal , there is nothing strange , nothing unusually .
ex. His taxi was like any other taxi. It was a yellow car with taxi sign on the roof.
The jewelry she makes like any other jewelry like him for sell. There are isn't anything special about it.
Her jewelry isn't like any other jewelry I see. It's very special.

3. break out of something = you are escape or get out of situation .
ex. The thief broke out of jell.
The monkey at the zoo broke out of his cage.
She broke out of a high strung working environment and traveled the world.

4. sidewalk人行道(美)
pavement路面(美)
pavement人行道(英)
tarmac飛機跑道路面(美)
tarmac路面(英)

5. feeling something, subject was about to ... when something happen
ex. Feeling hungry, Mark was about to go to the kitchen when the telephone rang.
Feeling sleepy, Lana was about to go to bed when she suddenly snow-smoke.

6. pounded down the sidewalk = they are running , they are also probably taking very big , heavy steps as they run.
ex. The police officer pounded down the sidewalk as he ran after the thief.

7. pad in mind = if you hand something in mind , then you are considering something or you intend to do something .
= what they want to do
ex. He had going to the beach for vacation in mind.

8. resident 居民
residential 住宅的;居住的
ex. Mark's new house is located in the residential area of Chicago.
This part of city is undergoing residential zoning. No any string will be allowed here.

9. drive = pull up/out/into/其他介係詞 (不可單用pull)
pull away 開離
ex. Pull up to the house. 開到那棟房子前面
He pulled the car into the drive way. 他將車子開上車道
He pulled the car off the road. 他將車子開離馬路
He pulled the car out of the parking lot. 他將車子開出停車場
I got pull over by the police today. 我今天被警察攔下來

10. for now = during the present time.
ex. What can I do for now ?
For now , I am going to work on my homework, but the suit dinner is ready. I'll take a break.
I'm lovin' in Taipei for now, but maybe I will leave some or else in the future. It's hard to say.
